Painting with paints is great fun - but it will be even more fun if you make them yourself! All you need is a few ingredients you can find in your kitchen and a little preparation, and you'll make every day more colourful!!! 🙂
Making your own natural dyes is child's play. We guarantee that there really are many products in every kitchen that can be used. Artist Maksym Ostrowski recently during his workshops at our branch Art Centre revealed the secrets of making dyes from blueberries, turmeric, paprika and coffee, among others. Participants in the workshop made their own mixtures of natural dyes, each of which will be used na kolejnych zajęciach z projektu „Zielono mi”.

If you want a blue paint colour, we recommend cooking blueberries or blueberries. Next blue A dye that has been used for years to colour Easter eggs, for example, is red cabbage stock. Its name may be a bit misleading, but we assure you that it will come in handy 🙂 .
How to make brown colour? Many of us, thanks to our mothers and grandmothers, already know this - onion skins come in handy for this, of course. Brown colour can also be achieved with a strong infusion of black tea. And with coffee we can achieve an extremely dark brown colour.
If you are wondering how to make yellow colour - just use turmeric, which intensely colours even your fingers! All fans of Indian cuisine know this 🙂 And if you prefer to go in the green, Maksym Ostrowski recommends spinach.

We've made ourselves hungry by writing about food colouring, but that's not the end of the culinary associations - to make good food colouring, you need to follow the directions in the recipes we've prepared for you:
Potato flour paints
Ingredients:
- potato flour
- water
- food colouring
- small whisk
- a container with compartments or several smaller ones
Preparation: Pour 1/4 cup of water into each container and add 2 tablespoons of potato flour. Stir with a whisk until the flour is completely dissolved. Add a few drops of food colouring and stir.
The paints will not only be used for painting on a piece of paper, pavement or the body - they can also be poured into a puddle to add colour or soak chalk in it.
Egg and chalk paints
Ingredients:
- eggs
- pavement chalk
- chalk pastels
- water
- baking tray for cupcakes
Preparation: Chalk and pastels of one colour are placed in a bag or wrapped in a cotton cloth. With the help of a small hammer, crush them into small pieces. Pour the crumbs into the hole in the tin and add a little water. Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites, add the egg yolk to the chalk/water mixture. Mix everything together.
Shaving foam paints
Ingredients:
- shaving foam
- food colourings or liquid paints
- paint container
Preparation: In a container, combine foam and food colouring. Mix. We spread the paper on the floor and paint.
Condensed milk paints
Ingredients:
- condensed milk
- food colouring
Preparation: Add a few drops of food colouring to the milk. Done!
